Food Work is Never Ending
Food work happens around the clock. To feed their babies, caregivers perform an array of tasks that extend beyond the food preparation, feeding, and clean-up we often associate with mealtime. Caregivers stay up late to research food ingredients and check for food recalls. They spend extra time in the grocery store comparing products and prices or use online apps to find the best deal. They pump breastmilk during work breaks, and spend nap times couponing, meal planning, and sterilizing bottles. They wake through the night to breastfeed. Food work is never ending.
