Finding Formula: Confronting Insecurities is a project that examines the factors that shape caregivers’ experiences of infant food securities across Canada and the United States.
We invite you to explore the everyday realities of feeding in troubled times.

Our aim is to advance knowledge about the impact of infant formula shortages, the high cost of infant formulas, and high costs of food for families in general, including breastfeeding mothers.
This website is organized into five themes that mirror topics explored with caregivers during a digital ethnography project in 2025. We also share findings from a survey about infant food insecurities conducted with caregivers across Canada and the United States in 2024.
Please help broaden the reach of these stories using the social media sharing icons and the hashtag #InfantFoodInsecurity.
Collectively, the team and participants call for protections to ensure families—including infants—have access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food. You too can advocate for change so that no one goes hungry. See our Calls for Action for ideas.
